ISLAMABAD: Federal Secretary Food and Agriculture ruled out any possibility of issue relating food security, as the government godowns are awash with one crore tonnes of wheat, Geo News reported Thursday.
Addressing a seminar held to hammer out the ‘Ghareeb Parwar Policy’, Secretary Food and Agriculture Junaid Iqbal Chaudhry said the government has at present wheat stock worth over Rs100 billion.
The steps are being planned with regard to food security and focus is being moved to growing such crops that need less water, he informed adding the irrigation system would be further streamlined to better utilize the enhanced amount of water in rivers as a result of global market.
Junaid Iqbal said, ‘We don’t have such a capital needed by our agricultural sector; however, we can attain benefits by making the most of our resources.’
